Advantages

Why This Seaming Machine

Six features that deliver the fastest, most consistent edge preparation.

12–40m/min Processing Speed

The fastest seaming speed in its class — up to 40 meters per minute on 4mm glass. Variable speed conveyor matches grinding speed to glass thickness for optimal edge quality.

4 Precision Grinding Heads

Two heads per side ensure consistent arris treatment on both edges simultaneously. Each head operates independently for maximum flexibility and redundancy.

0.5–2mm Adjustable Arris

Precisely controlled arris width from 0.5mm for thin glass to 2mm for thick tempered stock. One-turn adjustment on the grinding head depth control.

Automatic Thickness Detection

Optical sensors detect glass thickness in real-time and adjust grinding head spacing automatically — eliminating manual setup and ensuring consistent arris across mixed production runs.

Compact Footprint

At just 3–4 meters long, the seaming machine fits into any production line without major layout changes. Modular design allows standalone or inline operation.

Low Maintenance Design

Sealed spindle bearings, self-lubricating conveyor rollers, and tool-free wheel changes reduce maintenance downtime to minutes per shift.

12–40m/min Processing Speed

The fastest seaming speed in its class — thin glass up to 40m/min, keeping tempering and lamination lines fed at maximum throughput.

Applications

Where It Excels

From pre-temper safety to furniture edges — one seamer, every edge preparation need.

Pre-Temper Seaming

Safety & Quality

Glass must be seamed before tempering to prevent edge chips from propagating as stress fractures during the thermal process. The seaming machine removes sharp edges and applies a controlled arris that meets tempering furnace requirements.

Maintenance

Keep It Seaming

Five essential maintenance practices to maximize uptime and arris quality.

Inspect all 4 grinding wheels for wear, chips, or glazing. Check arris quality on test pieces. Replace wheels when arris width becomes inconsistent or surface finish degrades.

Check coolant concentration and pH level. Clean or replace filter cartridges. Inspect coolant nozzles for blockages and flush lines with clean water. Top up coolant reservoir.

Inspect conveyor belt tension, alignment, and surface wear. Check all drive motor mounts and couplings for looseness. Lubricate conveyor rollers with approved oil.

Check spindle bearings for play or noise. Verify spindle alignment using a precision straightedge. Replace bearings if lateral play exceeds 0.02mm. Realign as needed.

Perform complete machine calibration. Verify arris width accuracy, conveyor speed, and sensor alignment. Update PLC software. Conduct full safety system test including emergency stops.

FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about the Horizontal Seaming/Arrising Machine.

Seaming (or arrising) is the process of grinding a small chamfer on the sharp edges of cut glass. This removes the dangerous sharp edge, makes the glass safe to handle, and prepares it for tempering or lamination by preventing edge chips from propagating during thermal processing.

The machine processes glass from 4mm to 12mm thickness. Optical sensors automatically detect glass thickness and adjust grinding head spacing — no manual reconfiguration needed between different thicknesses.

Processing speed ranges from 12 to 40 meters per minute depending on glass thickness and arris width. Thin glass (4mm) can be processed at up to 40m/min, while thicker glass (12mm) runs at 12–20m/min for optimal edge quality.

The adjustable arris width ranges from 0.5mm to 2mm. The standard arris for tempering is 0.5–1mm. The Professional configuration includes inline arris width monitoring for consistent quality.

Yes. Seaming is a mandatory pre-treatment before tempering. Sharp edges create stress concentrations that can cause glass to shatter during the thermal process. A proper arris distributes stress evenly along the edge.

The machine is compact at approximately 3–4 meters long and 0.9 meters wide. It can operate standalone or inline with other grinding equipment. Minimal floor space makes it easy to integrate into existing production layouts.
