The color indicates different resin bond formulations. Black-sand resin wheels offer the best quality, suitable for both high-speed glass feeding and demanding finish requirements. Red and green wheels serve different grit and hardness requirements. All are used for fine grinding after the diamond-wheel stage.
Non-segmented wheels (RW-1 to RW-3) provide continuous contact for smooth, uniform finishing. Segmented wheels (RW-4) allow better coolant flow and chip evacuation, suitable for heavier grinding loads. Inner segmented wheels (RW-5) are specifically for bevelling machines.
