Thinner Segmented
Diamond Wheels
Narrower segments with tighter diamond distribution deliver finer surface finishes while maintaining productive grinding speeds. Precision-engineered for thin glass, coated substrates, and applications where reduced material waste matters.
How It Works
Narrower segments, higher diamond density — the engineering behind precision grinding with reduced material loss.
Why Thinner-Segmented
Precision engineering where every fraction of a millimeter counts. Narrower profile, finer finish, less waste.
Finer Finish Than Standard
Narrower segments and higher diamond concentration produce a significantly smoother edge, reducing downstream polishing requirements.
Reduced Material Waste
Narrow kerf means less glass removed per pass. Critical for expensive coated glass, thin substrates, and precision applications.
Thin Glass Optimized
Specifically engineered for 2–6mm glass where standard segmented wheels cause chipping and cracking. Reduced grinding pressure prevents edge damage.
Fewer Polishing Steps
Near-finish quality from grinding means fewer polishing stages are needed. This reduces total processing time and consumable costs.
One Grade Finer Finish
Standard segmented produces semi-finish quality. Thinner-segmented delivers semi-finish to near-finish — often eliminating one full polishing stage from your production line.

Where Precision Matters
Thin glass and coated substrates demand a different approach. Thinner-segmented wheels deliver where standard segmented falls short.
Thin Glass Processing
2–6mm Substrates
Thin glass demands precision. Standard segmented wheels risk chipping, cracking, and thermal shock on substrates under 6mm. Thinner-segmented wheels are specifically engineered with narrower segments and reduced grinding pressure to process thin glass reliably — delivering clean, chip-free edges at productive speeds.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know about thinner-segmented diamond wheels.
Choose thinner-segmented when: processing glass under 6mm, working with coated or Low-E glass, requiring finer edge finish to reduce polishing steps, or minimizing material waste on expensive substrates.
Not recommended for thick glass (over 12mm). Standard segmented wheels remove material faster and are more cost-effective for heavy grinding. Use thinner-segmented for thin glass and precision work, standard for everything else.
Typically one grade finer. A standard segmented wheel produces semi-finish quality; a thinner-segmented produces semi-finish to near-finish. This can eliminate one full polishing stage from your production line.
600–900 linear meters for Standard, 800–1,200 for Premium. Shorter than standard segmented due to the narrower segments, but the reduced polishing steps often offset the higher wheel cost.
