Advantages

Why Segmented

Maximum removal, maximum efficiency. Every feature engineered for high-volume production.

Highest Material Removal Rate

Aggressive diamond segments remove glass faster than any other wheel type. Ideal for primary grinding where throughput matters most.

Gullet Coolant System

Precision-cut gaps between segments allow coolant to reach the cutting zone and flush away swarf, preventing overheating and extending wheel life.

20–40% Longer Life

Proprietary diamond concentration balances cutting speed with longevity, delivering 20–40% more linear meters than industry-standard alternatives.

Cost-Effective Per Meter

The lowest cost-per-linear-meter of any diamond wheel type. The go-to choice for high-volume production where cost efficiency is paramount.

Highest Material Removal Rate

Segmented wheels remove glass faster than any other wheel type. The go-to choice for primary grinding where throughput and cost efficiency matter most.

Applications

Where It Excels

The go-to wheel for high-volume production and heavy-duty construction glass processing.

High-Volume Edging

Double Edger Lines

High-volume architectural glass production demands consistent edge quality at maximum throughput. Segmented wheels on horizontal double edgers deliver the aggressive material removal and long life needed to keep production lines running at 8–15m/min without frequent wheel changes.

Maintenance

Keep Them Cutting

Five essential practices to maximize wheel life and maintain consistent edge quality.

Measure segment height weekly. When segments reach 60% of original height, plan for replacement. Uneven wear indicates misaligned coolant or glass feed.

If the wheel glazes (reduced cutting), dress with a silicon carbide stick to expose fresh diamonds. Only works if sufficient segment height remains.

A healthy segmented wheel produces a consistent grinding sound. Changes in pitch indicate glazing, segment loss, or bearing issues.

Flush the wheel with clean water for 2 minutes at end of each shift. Removes glass particles embedded in the bond surface that accelerate wear.

Log meters processed per wheel. Patterns reveal optimal replacement intervals and help predict when to order new wheels.

FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about segmented diamond wheels.

Segmented wheels excel on 3–25mm glass. They're the standard choice for most architectural and construction glass. For glass under 3mm, consider thinner-segmented or peripheral wheels to prevent edge chipping.

Typically 8–16 segments depending on wheel diameter. More segments provide smoother operation but reduce coolant flow. Fewer segments cut more aggressively but with more vibration.

Yes, if sufficient segment height remains (above 60%). Use a silicon carbide dressing stick to expose fresh diamonds. However, dressing only restores cutting efficiency — it doesn't restore segment geometry. Plan for replacement based on segment height.

800–1,200 linear meters for Standard tier, 1,000–1,800 for Premium, and 1,500–2,500 for Ultra-Premium. Life varies significantly with glass type, thickness, coolant quality, and feed speed.
