Advantages

Why Internal Grinding

Precision inside every cutout. Every feature engineered for internal wall finishing and hardware aperture grinding.

Thin-Wall Design

2–5mm wall thickness reaches narrow cutouts that standard tools cannot access. The thin wall maximizes the internal diameter while minimizing the tool footprint.

Dual-Zone Diamond

Diamond grit on both the outer diameter and leading edge provides simultaneous wall grinding and bottom finishing — complete cutout processing in one pass.

Stepped Tool Options

Roughing and finishing zones on a single tool process blind holes (hinge pockets) in one operation — eliminating the need for sequential roughing and finishing tools.

Temper-Safe Finish

Internal surface finish meets tempering requirements — no stress concentrations that cause spontaneous breakage after thermal processing.

Keep Them Cutting

Five essential practices to maximize wheel life and maintain consistent internal finish quality.

Internal grinding generates significant heat in a confined space. Without coolant, the diamond bond degrades rapidly and the glass can crack from thermal stress.

The tool diameter must be appropriate for the cutout — too small and it won't contact the wall properly; too large and it won't fit. Consult the tool catalog for diameter-to-cutout matching.

Electroplated diamond tools cannot be dressed — when the diamond layer wears through, replace the tool. Sintered tools wear more gradually and can be used longer.

Measure sample cutouts weekly against specifications. When dimensional tolerance drifts beyond ±0.10mm, the tool needs replacement or the CNC program needs offset adjustment.

Glass dust from internal grinding is finer than edge grinding dust and can clog coolant filters more quickly. Clean or replace coolant filters weekly to maintain flow.

FAQ

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about internal-wall grinding wheels.

Only for large cutouts (50mm+) where a standard end mill can reach. For cutouts smaller than 50mm, or for blind holes and pockets,专用 internal grinding tools are necessary. Standard tools cannot provide the wall finish quality required for tempering.

Electroplated is more aggressive — better for initial cutout grinding and rough surfaces. Sintered is more durable — better for finishing and higher production volumes. For through-holes (door handles), electroplated is typically preferred. For blind holes (hinge pockets), sintered provides longer life.

Depends on cutout size and glass type: 300–500 cutouts for electroplated tools, 500–800 for sintered. Larger cutouts consume diamond faster. Track cutouts processed and replace when finish quality drops.

For simple through-holes, a 3-axis CNC is sufficient. For blind holes, hinge pockets, and angled cutouts, a 5-axis CNC provides the tool angles needed for complete surface coverage.
